Husky Game Development | Just another WordPress weblog

Husky Game Development began in the spring of 2004 as a student-led research unit on ITOxygen — MTU’s Information Technology Enterprise. The research unit explored the feasibility of a videogame Enterprise, of industry support, and of cross-disciplinary participation by MTU students.

Students worked over that summer to propose a new Enterprise Team, and they were successful: Husky Games began in the fall semester with 22 student team members.

The team is now designing and developing our own game prototypes and is building professional relationships with industry leaders.

We  are always seeking additional cross-disciplinary participation from MTU students. We are applying and improving industry practices in game design and development, production phases, buisiness and all other aspects of the gaming industry, and ways to use our team’s — and our campus’s — diversity to build and sustain a professional game-development organization.

HGD Professional Development Goals

  1. Develop a student-owned Enterprise culture that fosters high professional standards, creativity, productivity, effective personal communication, and a burning desire to learn.
  2. Create projects that can compete in an ever-changing, fast paced video gaming game development and interactive-entertainment culture, while interacting with industry professionals, and enriching student team members’ educational and professional experiences.
  3. Attract industry partners who can benefit from teaming on design, prototype, or test of new ideas and new products. Specifically, we envision the following benefits to our company partners:
–Enhanced access to outstanding students for co-ops and permanent employment – we’ll help get the word out when you are recruiting.
–Access to the campus community through seminars and classroom visits.
–Potentially thousands of development labor hours for a modest investment.
–Opportunities to shape the future of young video game enthusiasts.
