Husky Game Development was asked by the R.O.T.C. organization at Michigan Technological University to create a training simulation for cadets to learn basic field tactics, movement, and mission protocols.
The project is nearly complete and feedback from our R.O.T.C contact tells us we’re on the right track. Two players can enter the game, one as an evaluator and one as the “player”. The evaluator, or TAC, has a full view of the map/battlefield, and can control basically every aspect of the world, including adding new enemies, giving the player new troops, or authorizing air-strikes. The player (the cadet being evaluated) controls ground troops such as soldiers, medics, and demolitionists. He can put them into formation, uses special abilities, can ask the TAC for air or artillery support, and of course, simply shoot the enemies.
Any amount of unique mission objectives can be uploaded by the TAC, and can be changed on the fly during a mission. At the end, the TAC receives a standard R.O.T.C evaluation form that is used to grade cadets.
The deadline for the R.O.T.C. project is the end of the summer semester.
